Mich Announces Progressive Pistol Program at MSU's Demmer Center

Taken From: Outdoor Wire

Michigan State University's Demmer Shooting Sports, Education and Training Center is starting a Progressive Position Pistol (PPP) program next month. PPP is taking hold in the United States as the premier development platform for Olympic Style and NRA Conventional Pistol. The next session will be held on Saturdays from 9:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. starting on September 12. The program runs for 8 weeks total and ends on November 14 (no class on 10/10 and 10/17).

The PPP program is designed and is intended to be a developmental vehicle that allows junior athletes the opportunity to learn the foundation skills of shooting sports and have the opportunity to participate in competitions. This program encourages the development of confidence and knowledge at an early age with minimal investment. There are three positions in this program: the basic supported position, standing supported position and the International position. The supported positions are used as transitional tools along the path of athletic development while the athlete develops the upper body strength and skill level needed to shoot in the unsupported standing position which is the foundation of all international and conventional shooting sports.

Training is disciplined toward tournament/competition style shooting used by USA Shooting and NRA Conventional Pistol. Shooters become eligible for awards as they meet or exceed established performance measures.

Plans are to be able to bring this to the Lansing area and take competitors to the PPP National Match, Junior Olympics and NRA Nationals. If you are interested in this opportunity, please register at the link below:
